To improve the road safety, the RTA in Dubai decided to make some important changes regarding the speed limit in the city. The second part of the Sheikh Zayed Road flyover, an element of the Dubai Water Canal project, was opened last year in July. The work on the 16-lane flyover started in November 2014 and in January this year, RTA unlocking the first part of the flyover for Sharjah-bound circulation.
3. Mafraq-Ghuwaifat Highway
The Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada), in partnership with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT), has completed 59% of the Mafraq – Ghuwaifat International Highway plan connecting western area towns and simplifying commercial transportation on the worldwide highway.
The project contains the production of 15 new upper interchanges, sideways with elementary enhancements to the current interchanges at Hameem, Mafraq, Abu Al Abyad and Madinat Zayed interchanges, as well as main increases on the present interchanges, bringing the entire development works up to 246 km long.
